About

Who we are

A Coptic Orthodox convent in rural Ontario, living a life of prayer, work and hospitality.

The Coptic Orthodox Convent of St. Mary, St. George and St. Philopateer is a Canadian convent under the auspices of His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark, and His Grace Bishop Mina, Bishop of Mississauga, Vancouver and Western Canada.

Our faith is based on the teachings of the Bible and the heritage of the Church Fathers. We believe in the Nicene Creed and practice the sacraments of the Coptic Orthodox Church. In submission and love to our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, we pray to lead others to Him.

The convent is home to nuns, consecrated sisters, novices and sisters in training. We welcome families for worship and women for spiritual retreats. Our spiritual life is lived through personal devotion and liturgical worship, as well as manual work such as sewing, embroidery and icon painting. At the convent you can share in the monastic life of worship, service, obedience and self-denial.
